When a guy and a girl are attracted to each other, their bodies produce high levels of testosterone and estrogen. As the attraction deepens, dopamine and serotonin are produced as well. Serotonin happens to be the most important chemical in love. It makes a person wild with passion. The couple would want to bring their relationship to a more intimate level, leading to sex or marriage. The brain starts to release oxytocin and vasopressin. Oxytocin is not only present in people who are in love, but in nursing mothers as well. To woman, maternal love is similar to sexual love. One very interesting fact about serotonin - it makes you blind to the flaws of your partner. The level of these hormones will remain high for 2 years. 3 to 4 years maximum.
